The Debate Surrounding Abortion

In the debate surrounding abortion, there are many different viewpoints. Those who identify themselves as "pro-life" (those who would more likely support our proposed solution) believe that life begins at conception and oppose laws that are not restrictive on abortion. Those on the other side of the debate identify themselves as "pro-choice" and believe that a woman should not be required to carry a child that she does not want/ is unable to support. People who are "pro-choice" generally oppose overly restrictive abortion laws.

In New Jersey, there are some of the least-restrictive abortion laws in the country. The few laws that we have regarding abortion are not enforced or are not as restrictive as would be desirable for the general population of New Jersey. These liberal laws do not reflect on the desires of New Jersey residents as a whole, especially those desires of parents of minors who might possibly need an abortion and are not required to have consent from their parents. Therefore, we believe that New Jersey's abortion laws should be changed to be more restrictive.
