Erin's Reflection

Throughout the completion of this project, I have learned a lot about the policy making process in local, state, and even national governments. I learned that I have even more influence in this process than I realized, and that I am able to make a difference in our laws, either through sending an email, letter, or even facebook messaging our state governor.

Before Project Citizen, I was unaware how far one idea with one voice could carry and multiply into the many voices that inspire change within our community. It is also in this way that I found more ways to be an active citizen, such as petitioning for an idea or problem, educating the community about it, and finding the different laws, or lack of laws, that govern that idea or problem and proposing a solution.

I enjoyed learning more about the complexities of the topic abortion. It gave me a deeper understanding of the issue as a whole, and allowed me to see first hand that nothing has a straight up or easy solution. But, by working as a team and listening to different viewpoints concerning abortion, I believe we have found a solution that enables a balance between these many perspectives that would help the current problem in abortion to be solved.
