In The US Overall

• One in three American women will have had an abortion by the time she reaches age 45

  • Whereas the likelihood of getting breast cancer in a woman's entire lifetime is about 12.4% which is equivalent to 1 in 8 women

• About women who obtain an abortion:

  • “61% have one or more children”

  • “73% report a religious affiliation”

  • “36% of women are white non-Hispanic”

  • Only 1% of women in 2014 reported being raped (State Facts About Abortion: New Jersey).

 

 

 

In New Jersey Alone 

• New Jersey was ranked 47 out of 51 on 2011 final teen births rates among females aged 15-19 (with 1 representing the highest rate and 51 representing the lowest rate).

• On a similar scale – where 1 is the highest teen pregnancy rate and 51 is the lowest – New Jersey was ranked 29 out of 51 in pregnancies to females aged 15- 19 in 2008 (New Jersey Adolescent Reproductive Health Facts).
